Pyramid Model Practices Training
BIRS Foundation
This training covers all foundational content regarding the who, what, where, when, and why we collect behavior incident reports in early childhood settings. The training will cover how to define a BIR and when to document a BIR. This training will also explore the various strategies which professionals may select when adopting the BIR. The importance of considering patterns regarding exclusionary discipline will also be discussed.
BIRS 1: Data Collection
This training will guide participants in the process of collecting behavior incident report data. It will describe the data collection tools, processes, and methods that programs can use to collect BIR data. Participants will also gain an in-depth understanding of the BIR data collection tool in Pyramid Model Implementation Data System (PIDS) and how to successfully set up their programs and classrooms for BIR data collection. This training will provide a brief introduction to the reports which can be generated in PIDS for BIR analysis.
Recommended: Complete at least 3 months of data collection before advancing to BIRS 2
BIRS 2: Data Analysis
This training will take a deep dive into BIR analysis. Participants will practice using the “Look, Think, Act” framework while exploring the various reports in PIDS. Participants will learn how to conduct child, classroom, and program analyses with a trauma informed lens. This training takes a supportive and strength-based approach to BIR data analysis to deeply understand how programs can support teachers and children in addressing and understanding challenging behavior.
