Positive Solutions for Families equips parents and caregivers with practical strategies to nurture their child’s social-emotional skills and prevent challenging behavior, grounded in the same Pyramid Model practices used in early childhood classrooms.
PIWI (Parents Interacting with Infants) offers a relationship-based approach for home visitors and family support professionals, creating opportunities for parents and infants/toddlers to connect, play, and grow together in a supportive group setting.

Positive Solutions for Families
Positive Solutions for Families (PSF) – Train the Facilitator
This training is designed to help individuals who facilitate parent classes/skill building groups; to promote young children’s social and emotional skills, understand their problem behavior, and use positive approaches to teach children appropriate behavior.
The training will review the content, materials, and strategies in each of the 7 sessions of the Positive Solutions for Families series.
Participants will gain a deeper knowledge of each session so that information can be shared with families in a meaningful and supportive way. As well as learn new approaches that could be used with families to promote family engagement in the social and emotional development of the children in their care.

PSF Community of Practice
This Community of Practice (provided after PSF training) allows facilitators to connect and share experiences while leading the Positive Solution for Families sessions. It will provide space to discuss and share things like:
- Recruitment and retention ideas
- Problem-solving
- Shared successes
- Supplemental materials
Parents Interacting with Infants
Parents Interacting with Infants (PIWI)
PIWI has been successfully used in community-based, Early Head Start and early intervention programs with a diverse range of parents and children. While the primary focus of the module will be on parent child groups, the training materials also provide guidance on the use of the model in home visiting. This training provides the professional with guidance on how to support a parent or other caregiver as they interact with the infant or toddler.
